Production Bee products come from the substances bees make to support the life and health of the colony. Each bee colony contains drones, workers and a single queen. Nectar from flowers is the main food source of mature bees and is the necessary fuel that allows bees to control the development of larva. Royal Jelly Nurse worker bees produce a substance known as royal jelly. They use this protein-rich paste to feed all larvae for the first three days of life. They stop feeding drone and worker bees the royal jelly after this time, but continue to feed this nutritious substance to the larvae that will mature into queen bees.
Royal jelly is a nutritious food used to feed queen bee and babies that is produced by worker bees by consuming plenty of pollen and honey and by secreting it from their hypopharyngeal glands.
Feeding this substance to selected larvae throughout the feeding stage is the process that creates queen bees. Queen bees require about 16 days to mature, while workers and drones mature within 21 to 24 days.
Royal jelly contains proteins, sugar and fats, as well as a type of acid, known as HAD, the ingredient most likely responsible for the queen bee’s growth. Propolis Propolis is a sticky substance that the worker bees collect from plants and trees. Also called bee glue, the workers use this resinous matter to seal off cracks in the hive. This sticky material contains amino acids, vitamins, minerals, essential oils, waxes and resin. It contains antimicrobial properties that help protect the hive from bacterial pathogens. Honey Bees carry nectar in their stomachs. After reaching the hive, they deposit the nectar into honeycomb cells to store for later use as a food source.
Honey contains water, glucose, fructose and sucrose. It supplies numerous vitamins and minerals. The nectar source, which may include blossoms from trees, weeds, vegetables and fruit plants, plays a major role in determining the flavor and color of the resulting honey.
Royal jelly The queen bee food Lots of people, who are not familiar with the world of bees, believe that the royal jelly is a secretion of the queen bee. Actually, this amazing product is a glandular secretion of the nanny bees, which has the form of a gelatinous, pseudo-viscous substance, used in feeding the future queen bees and the bee larva during the first three stages of their development. The fresh royal jelly is white-yellowish, sometimes even a bit brown-yellowish, especially when the bees bring into the hive important quantities of pollen taken from a plant rich in pollen. When in contact with air and light, the color of the royal jelly changes, it becomes denser and harder, having a glassy aspect and a dark brown color. The royal jelly tastes a bit sour, having a 3,5-4,5 ph, similar to the gastric juice in the stomach of the human body.
The royal jelly has in its composition, carbon hydrates, proteins and B vitamins. Its main ingredients are: - 10-23% sugar - 60-70% water - 9-18% proteins and amino-acids - 4-8% fats - Thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxine, niacin, biotin, folic acid, sterols, biopterin, neopterin, minerals and other elements - hydroxybezoate as a natural preserver When mixed with honey it mounts to the surface under the form of a foam due to its 1/1 density. It decomposes itself very fast and absorbs easily the humidity extant in the surrounding environment and thus it becomes rancid.
When in contact with various metals, especially aluminum, it creates toxic products and it changes a part of its composing elements. If it is kept within a cold environment (2-4 degrees C) it maintains its qualities for about 7-8 months and after 12-16 months it loses its therapeutic properties. The best way to preserve royal jelly is through lyophilization, done immediately after collecting it from the hive. The royal jelly has in its composition numerous vitamins, amino acids and some elements unidentified (approximately 2, 8%). The royal jelly can be gathered only when very powerful bee colonies have raised two generations of baby bees.
The colonies have to be in a perfect health state, without drones. In order to have a high quality royal jelly is it important to keep away larva from powerful gusts of air, powerful sun light and temperatures higher than 200 Celsius. Doctor Masaki Kamakura from the Toyama University, in Japan, said: 'The bees create two different castes of female bee- the queen and the working bees.' The queen bee feeds throughout her life with royal jelly, in order to have a long life and special reproductive qualities. Thus, unlike a working bee, which lives at most 40 days, a queen bee can reach the age of 5 years. The queen bee has an amazing reproductive capacity- it can lay approximately 2000 eggs per day. Moreover, they are 42% bigger and 60% heavier than a working bee.
Paraphrasing the famous saying: 'a human is not born a human, but becomes one due to education', it can be stated that 'a queen bee is not born a queen bee, but it becomes one due to royal jelly'. When the working bees decide that they need a new queen because the old one is either to weak or has been killed, they choose a few larvae and feed them with royal jelly. These larvae are position is special honey comb cells. This type of feeding determines the development of a typical queen bee morphology, including the development of ovaries, which are necessary for the reproductive process. During the first three days of life all larvae are fed with royal jelly, even the working bees and the drones. The royal jelly is produced by working bees between the 6th and the 14th day of their lives.
The royal jelly contains acetylcholine, which is necessary to send nervous messages from one cell to another. Due to this compound, the people who eat regularly royal jelly are less predisposed to the Alzheimer. It also contains the gamma globulin, which stimulates the immune system and prevents infections.
The royal jelly is a powerful stem cells stimulator, a fact proved by the longevity and reproductive capacity of queen bees. The queen bee is the source of life within a hive, and in her absence the bee family is extinguishing gradually until it completely disappears. The whole hive has its source in the cell stem reservoir of the queen bee. This reservoir has as its spring the royal jelly, which represents the food of the queen bee throughout its entire life.
Royal jelly harvesting There are lots of beekeepers who harvest royal jelly for personal use. The process is not a very complicated one.
All the beekeepers need to do is to scrape with a spatula the content of the honeycomb cells, after the removal of the larvae. The process of royal jelly harvesting for commercial purposes is a very difficult and delicate one. The royal jelly is collected from each cell in which there is a queen bee larva, when these have four days of age. It is collected form these cells, because only here are stored important quantities of royal jelly. Even though all larvae are feed with royal jelly in the first three days of their lives, no beekeeper will try to obtain royal jelly out of these. Only in the queen bee cells can be found important quantities of royal jelly. In the other cells there are no storages, because the royal jelly is directly given to the larvae, which eat as it is given o them.
Usage of royal jelly Each morning you can take approximately 50 mg of royal jelly, either pure or diluted with water or honey (10 grams of royal jelly and 300 grams of honey). For children under the age of 10 the daily dose has to be halved; after swallowing the royal jelly, it is advisable to drink a lot of liquids.
The royal jelly can be applied externally. It can be found in the composition of numerous creams, body lotions or cosmetic products. The royal jelly cure has to be done twice a year, each time for thirty days. Royal jelly for children The royal jelly cure had excellent results in the case of children who had a weakened immune system. The results were similar in the case of children suffering from development disorder caused by an inappropriate feeding. The royal jelly is an ideal product for children who are recovering after a severe, infectious disease, which was accompanied by fever.
Moreover, a cure with royal jelly stimulates the growing process, being extremely beneficial for premature born children, dystrophic or overweighs. Due to its amazing properties, the royal jelly can be used to treat inherited gastric conditions. A mixture of pollen and royal jelly helps children born with these affections to develop better. Thus, it is necessary to give them this mixture in quantities of 0,5-1grams per day, for two to three months, with pauses of three to four weeks. This mixture can be taken in bigger quantities, according to age, weigh and seriousness of the diseases. Royal jelly and the mammary-genital affections In spite of the numerous studies and analyses that pointed out the amazing therapeutic effects of royal jelly, there still are lots of researches who doubt the benefits of this bee product over the patients suffering from breast cancer. Their concern is based on the fact that the royal jelly has estrogen in its composition.
However, it is important to bear in mind that the royal jelly does not contain active estrogens but precursors of it. The human body uses these precursors in accordance with its needs and deficiencies. Thus, if the sexual function is the one having problems, then the precursors are directed towards this axis.
In the case of an organism that has to face a severe malady like cancer, the reproduction is no longer a priority. Therefore, the royal jelly is used to strengthen the immune system. People suffering from cancer, should eat raw royal jelly, because its properties are not altered by processing. WARNINGS!!!!Contraindications to royal jelly consumption The raw royal jelly is not advisable to be eaten by people who are suffering from allergies or over sensitivity to bee products. It should not be consumed by pregnant women and nursing mothers. People who are suffering from asthma, royal jelly intolerance, Addison diseases, delirium, psychic anxiety or terminal phase cancer should not consume royal jelly. In order to prevent the possible allergic reactions it is advisable to take in the beginning little quantities of royal jelly and then make a one-two months pause between the cures.
When eating royal jelly, you should not use a metal spoon, because the royal jelly changes its properties when enters into contact with any type of metal. Therefore, it is better to use a plastic or wooden spoon. The royal jelly is a 100% natural product and it does not interfere with other medication.
The royal jelly is a toxic-free product.
